Why skill on the Z series?
  • Z series have the highest skill gain limit in non premium area
  • A pilot can reach 100/105/95 in the 3 main skills
  • 5 out of 6 Z species have a firerate higher than 4
  • The Z series are concentrated at known location, no need to spend lots of APs finding them

Tactics
  • Choose the right opponent, try to be under each skill gain limit but don't try to attack a Z that's too strong for you
  • Don't engage an NPC if a moving NPC (Z15S, Z16F) can block you retreat point,
    otherwise you can retreat into this NPC without any further possibility of retreat
  • Don't attack or retreat near the full minute otherwise 2 attacks can happens in the same time
    The following useful tools can be used:
    SPH Sync by Spoilerhead
    Pardus Clock 1.5.8 by Spoilerhead
  • Always have enough armor just before the full minute to be able to survive if the NPC attacks
  • Always have enough armor before retreating to be able to sustain the worst retreat hold (Z16RD can fire 6 missiles on retreat hold)
  • Always have enough APs to retreat and go to a safe place (>1000 APs)
  • Always have enough bots for a bad retreat hold streak
  • When retreating from a moving NPC (Z15S, Z16F), do it with enough time before the full minute to be able to safely move away
    If the NPC moves onto you after you retreated, you won't be able to retreat anymore
  • Z16F are only useful for high HA skilling

The exception are the Split Cluster with no Z sector and the Gap Cluster with only 1 Z sector.
